Raw logs are sourced from forests in the north of New Zealand’s North Island. These forests are situated perfectly to take advantage of the local micro climate, that produces some of the highest density pine trees in New Zealand. Unbeknown to most pine customers, not every pine tree is created equal - In fact, investigations into different pine forests in New Zealand have shown that there is a large disparity between the density of pine trees from forest to forest. Studies have shown that the average density of pine in the central North Island and South Island forests are around 420 Kgm3, while forests in the northern areas of the North Island area averaging up around 510 Kg/m3, some forests are even considerably denser.
